As a current PhD student in Organizational Psychology and a new hire at an organizational development firm, Sink or Swim, has really encouraged me to become more boldly involved with the people that I work with and apply behaviors that the authors write about inside the classroom as well. Milo and Thuy Sindell’s week-by-week approach to starting a new job and being successful even after the first twelve weeks has helped me to gain confidence, understand what is expected in companies and organizations, and to thrive using personal as well as professional approaches. The tongue-in-cheek humor and intimate style that the authors have used is just what I look for as a young professional. There’s simply no way to make a mess of your first three months on the job if you follow Sink or Swim’s real approach to the real world of business.

This book has been very well written. It’s exactly what anyone needs to ensure a successful begining to any job. It gives you what you need, when you need it…and nothing more. It’s even written in a very real and easy to follow manner. I use it for my internal hires.

Easy and fun to read, and gives you a lot of “heads up” what to consider and actions to take when starting a new job and/or career.
You think you know it all, but after reading this book you realize you don’t. Many great ideas and well-written information that we all need to know about. This book is simply a “must read” for every single person starting a new job, no matter what position – it’s extremely helpful!
I am already giving it to new employees in my company and I truly recommend everyone to read it – even if you are not starting a new job!
